I rescued a great pyrenees puppy from going to the pound. She was born on a farm and wasn’t being cared for, and we took her in. We were told that she was purebred, even our vet said she appeared full blooded except her size. when she was 9wks we had to have her treated for tapeworm and at 9wks old our vet weighed her in at 30lbs.
she was gaining at leat 10lbs a week, so we switched to adult dog food as suggested by our vet. at 4 1/2 months old she weighed about 84lbs.
we took her to the vet for shots about 4 months ago and a check up they weighed her and she is about 145lbs and will be 2yrs old in december. everyone i have talked to and everything i have read says female great pyrenees only weigh about 85lbs and males weigh 100lbs. Why is she so big, she look great pyrenees as a pup. she looks it now only she is huge.
she also doesn’t have the double dew claws on her back legs.
could she still be pure bred? what could she possibly be mixed with that could make her so big?
i don’t have any pics in the computer but she is solid white, her tail goes down then curls at the very tip, she doesn’t have double dew claws, or any dew claws.she is very docile and love cats which is probably the great pyrenees, she also is usually very friendly with
also when you look at her teeth some of her adult teeth are only half way down and have came all the way in. why is that? thank you for your time
I have asked my vet some of these questions like what could she be mixed with, but their stumped. some of the question is one of those things you don’t think of at the time, so i was wandering if anyone had any idea think you.
