My cat has issues. I think he might be clinically insane. Is there some way to find out for sure? And if he is, is it possible to help him?
I realize I’m exaggerating a bit, but let me clarify. He is very, very needy. We him love and pay attention to him every day. Plenty of physical and verbal affection from both of us. But it never seems to be enough. He meows incessantly. To the point where he loses his voice. Before we instilled the ‘no cats in the bedroom’ rule, I never got any sleep. Every 30 min on average, he would be in our face, meowing non-stop. If you pet him & give him attention, he’ll calm down a bit, but he’ll be back at it within 1/2 hr or so. This goes on and on… If you ignore him, it only gets worse. Punishment does not work (spray bottles, ignoring – we never do anything physical). It’s not even that he meows incessantly. It’s these loooooong, scratchy-voiced, pathetic, “you haven’t paid attention to me in a month” type meows. They are extremely obnoxious, as you could imagine. We love our cat. But he seriously drives us to the brink.
